Dr. Lee’s Teaching Experience

Teaching has become a major focus for Dr. Lee.  He began teaching interns in Portland, OR in the late 1980s when he was working at the Osteopathic Services Department at Eastmoreland Hospital.  He worked his way through the faculty assignments of the semiannual Introductory Course of the Osteopathic Cranial Academy (OCA) in the 1990s to eventually become the course director for three successive years in the early 2000s.  He helped develop and teach advanced courses taught by the OCA (“base course” and “next step”).  He taught with Bruno Chikly, MD (treating the brain) and Maurice Bensoussan, MD of Paris, France (central nervous system) each for several years at courses sponsored by the OCA.  He taught with Maud Nerman, DO on the treatment of traumatic brain injury in 2016, 2017, and 2018.

After publishing Interface: Mechanisms of Spirit in Osteopathy in 2005 he was invited to teach in Toronto at the Canadian College of Osteopathy, then in Germany, The Netherlands and Belgium in the early 2000s.  He delivered the Rollin Becker Memorial Lecture in 2006 in London, England, before the Sutherland Cranial College.  He also presented the Sutherland Memorial Lecture before the annual meeting of the OCA in 2013.  In 2015 he offered the address to the graduating class from the European School of Osteopathy, Maidstone, England after teaching at a conference there.

He has taught his own unique material to his colleagues in Europe (England, France, Holland, Belgium, Germany, Italy, and Spain), Canada, Japan, and Australia/New Zealand from 2006 to 2018.  Dr. Lee was the conference chairman for the OCA in 2010.  He continues to teach interested students, residents and practicing physicians in his office from time to time.  At the time of this writing, he is scheduled to teach in 2019 with the faculty (from Australia/New Zealand) for the Rule of the Artery I and II courses in Portland, OR, lecture to the annual conference of the OCA in San Diego, teach his own material “Osteopathy from Head to Toe,” in Denver, CO as well as in Berlin, Germany, Barcelona, Spain, and Milan, Italy.
