Accessing the Breath of Life

Osteopathic physicians can proudly point to a distinct philosophy, a set of principles of nature that we uniquely employ in treatment: the human is triune, composed of body, mind and spirit; structure and function are reciprocally interrelated in the formation and maintenance of the organism; and the body contains all the necessary factors and systems to heal itself through a structure/function relationship. Function is a pre-existing pattern of energy that determines structure, but once in place, structure determines function and offers a unique opportunity for osteopathic assistance to re-establish the original tissue configuration when trauma exceeds the resilience/compliance of the structural fibers.

Conventional medicine has no such philosophy. It points to data from research as its guide to diagnose and treat. Its perspective of medicine is based only in material reality, clearly avoiding the unmeasurable aspects of osteopathic philosophy – mind and spirit. Allopathic medicine relies on psychiatry if it cannot find a physical cause or cure for a malady.

We have other means in Osteopathy.  As Dr. Still said, “We can analyze material bodies, but we have to stop at the life line for more knowledge.”[1] Note, he suggests that analysis comes with the material realm and knowledge comes with the ethereal realm. Being shunned by conventional medicine for our “unscientific” values may not be all bad. We are not shackled by their science-only straight jacket. We utilize the scientific method rigorously while evaluating measurable attributes, but for those that are unmeasurable, we are free to reach beyond science for knowledge by engaging mind and spirit to diagnose and treat.

PRM

The Primary Respiratory Mechanism (PRM) is Osteopathy’s Exhibit A for evidence of the unity of body, mind, and spirit, the structure/function interrelationship, and the body’s self-healing capacity. During an osteopathic treatment, the PRM provides the means for self-healing as it reorders the fibrous structure of the interstitium to its original configuration thereby affording the organism healthy function, using spirit and mind to accomplish it.

BOL

Through the Tide we can access the source of the PRM, the Breath of Life. The Breath of Life underlies the fluctuation of fluid, as Dr. William Sutherland indicated, “Within the cerebrospinal fluid there is an invisible element that I refer to as the ‘Breath of Life.’ I want you to visualize this Breath of Life as a fluid within a fluid, something that does not mix, something that has potency as the thing that makes it move. Is it really necessary to know what makes the fluid move? Visualize a potency, an Intelligent potency, that is more intelligent than your own human mentality.” [2]

The paradigm underlying the cranial concept demands that we entertain unmeasurable principles that go beyond science. We must look to vitalistic propositions to explain the motor that drives the fluctuation of the fluid Tide. The fluctuation of the cerebrospinal fluid is the most fundamental of the five elements of Sutherland’s definition of the PRM. The other elements include inherent motion of the central nervous system and dural control of passive bony motion of the skull and sacrum.

If the fluctuation of the cerebrospinal fluid and for that matter all extracellular fluids in the rest of the body use the Breath of Life, a spiritual principle as their motive power, how can we discern its mechanism? After all spirit is unmeasurable. Furthermore, how can we measure the Intelligence and Potency of the Tide, which underlie the previously mentioned distinguishing elements of osteopathic philosophy? Let’s explore that question.

Intelligence and Potency are two characteristics of the Breath of Life, which create, maintain, and heal the organism.[3] Dr. Sutherland escaped from the conundrum of trying to explain the spiritual and mental aspects of his cranial concept when he said, “Our knowledge is like that of the electrician who merely knows that the potent current, or M-element, is present and that he is learning how to utilize its force.”[4] However, as we shall see, we can begin to reveal a mechanism of this ethereal force from the Breath of Life.

PRT

Primary Response Testing (PRT)[5] utilizes the Tide of Primary Respiration while simultaneously using our mind to engage its ultimate Intelligence to receive an affirmative or negative response. If the silent statement from our mind elicits a fluctuation of fluid in the tissue of the subject, the statement is confirmed as true. If the Tide pauses, we know that the statement is false. Palpating my own primary respiration, I could pose the statement, “I am allergic to wheat.” A palpable response of a fluctuation of fluid would affirm my allergy to wheat. However, if the motion of the fluid pauses, the statement is false, indicating that I am not allergic to wheat.

PRT uses the mind to address spirit. The mind of the operator engages spirit within the Tide – the ultimate Intelligence of the Breath of Life that Dr. Sutherland referred to. Although this technique draws a comparison to applied kinesiology, there is no muscle testing, only subtle palpation of the Tide.

There is more to this discipline of PRT beyond a simple statement to elicit a palpable response. We can put into the circuit other influences (hand modes and Contact Reflex Analysis, for example) to gain more information, although posing statements to the mechanism is a large part of it and may usually be substituted for these other influences in the circuit. The circuit is made by the operator’s querying mind and palpating hand on one end and the patient’s Tide with its ultimate Intelligence on the other.

USING PRT

My former associate, Jennifer Letellier-Smith, ND received a treatment for her Lyme disease that not only cured her, but also changed her practice. She decided to focus on this supremely effective method in her practice but replaced muscle testing with Primary Response Testing. Performing the technique in her clinic, she retained the use of magnets to disable the infecting organisms and the use of the Master Brain Point, placing the palm of her hand over the patient’s mid forehead at the hairline, to stimulate the immune system while the Borrelia burgdorferi or other organisms were suppressed by the magnetic field. Sometimes immediate relief of the difficult infection resulted, but usually the process of healing was more prolonged requiring regimens of detoxification, nutrition, gut health, and so forth. I became fascinated by her report of amazing results with such an illness that had befuddled most practitioners and tested the endurance of a multitude of patients.

POTENCY POINT

What fascinated me was the use of the Master Brain Point to stimulate the immune system. What was really going on here? I considered it for some time, querying the Tide to discern the mechanism. Eventually, the truth came out. The Master Brain Point, used in applied kinesiology, engages much more than the forebrain. By placing the center of the palm of the hand (where the minor chakra I call the power point emits its own magnetic field) over the hairline on the mid forehead I discovered by PRT that this point accesses an enhanced level of the Potency of the Breath of Life (BOL). As a result, I have renamed the Master Brain Point of applied kinesiology for the purposes of PRT the “Potency Point.”

INTELLIGENCE POINT

Then, I began to wonder if another aspect of the BOL could be equally accessed by a point on the skull. As I scanned the head with “Intelligence Point” in my mind, Governor Vessel 20 ‘lit up’ with a fluctuation of the Tide. GV 20 is an acupuncture point midway between bregma and lambda in the midline – the vertex. This point also offers direct access to the pineal gland when employing Contact Reflex Analysis[6], just like all acupuncture points called alarm or Mo points (Mu points in French) access a specific organ or function.[7] For example, using Contact Reflex Analysis to directly access the lung, we touch Lung 1, an acupuncture point below the clavicle to evaluate the lung’s vitality for diagnostic purposes. We also discern the level of vitality at alarm points during treatment to know when we are finished. The Potency Point turns out to be at GV 24 and provides direct access to enhanced levels of Potency of the Breath of Life. The Intelligence Point at GV 20 provides direct access to enhanced levels of Intelligence of the Breath of Life.

Generally, the BOL delivers Potency and Intelligence to vital fluids at a level that produces normal function and structure. Potency is the emissary from the BOL that supplies the force to move water and embryonic fibers, which in conjunction with Intelligence creates the structure of the organism and maintains it in adulthood.[8] Potency also provides the impetus to move traumatically displaced fibers back into their original configuration during osteopathic treatment in coordination with Intelligence, which provides the memory of the configuration that shapes the structure to accommodate healthy function.[9] Potency relates to structure and Intelligence to function.[10] Potency initially operates in interstitial fluid, while Intelligence starts out affecting cerebrospinal fluid after its reception in the pineal gland.[11] Potency fluctuates at the rate of the mid Tide, while Intelligence fluctuates at the rate of the long Tide.[12]

Intelligence appears in material reality as photons, while Potency does its work by moving fluid and charge on collagen and other proteins.[13] Both are carried by fluid – Intelligence, the pattern of light in the cerebrospinal fluid, and Potency, the charge-moving force in interstitial fluid.[14] Light and charge are related to each other as light is the carrier of electromagnetic energy, which expresses oscillating electric and magnetic fields at right angles to each other along a beam of photons.[15] Quantum electrodynamics (QED) tells us how light and charge are related to each other. QED is one of the most reliable laws of physics, repeatedly proven to be valid to many decimal points. Light is the emissary, the major influence from the BOL emitting photons and power to move charge. Waves of light energy emerge into material reality as particles of light – photons – by the effect of consciousness, as attention acts to turn waves into particles.[16]

Waves predominate in the universe as an underlying principle of nature. There are 0.8 trillion virtual photons, waves of energy, underlying every elementary particle in physical reality.[17] Material reality “crystallizes” out of the background of pure energy according to the action of attention, an aspect of consciousness. BOL is made of energetic waves. Intention, an aspect of consciousness, creates the universal background of underlying waves, while its partner, attention makes them into particles crossing over from the spiritual realm into the material. Our attention in osteopathic treatment produces a focus for Potency. “Where our mind goes, there is the Potency.” And Intelligence orders the shape of the healing force of Potency according to the template of unseen pure energy to re-establish its original structure required for healthy function.

We can use Potency and Intelligence Points to our advantage in self-treatment or in our patients. Simply place the palm of your hand with the power point connecting with the energy of either the Potency or Intelligence Points or both as the need dictates. If there is PRM communicating between the hand and head contacts, health is present there. If PRM is not active, our task as treaters is to wait with the intention that the two points will restore vitality, which we eventually feel as a harmonic fluctuation of fluid in and between the contacts. The goal of treatment is a fluctuation that will be strong, symmetric and persistent beyond three cycles.

COVID

If the need is to increase the potency to stimulate healing, use the Potency point with one hand while placing the other hand over the organ or joint of interest. I have successfully aborted several potential episodes of COVID in myself using a point over the spleen as the contact for the other power point. I treated the incipient infection very early. If I waited for even a day after the onset of symptoms, the infection ran its course although, with this ongoing treatment, it was less virulent and of shorter duration. The key to aborting a URI OR COVID is to palpate the spleen. Finding no vitality of the PRM in the spleen is the signal to treat. The level of vitality of the spleen indicates the level of effective immune function.

I wait for the Tide to harmonize in both hands, at the Potency Point and at the spleen. It appears irregular at first, but eventually grows strong and persistent (three full cycles of the Tide). Then, I am finished. This can require significant time if the infection is strong, and the immune system is consequentially overwhelmed. With incipient symptoms of COVID, I have done this technique intermittently for three days running and held the contacts for up to 40 minutes (usually 20 minutes). I repeated the technique when the spleen indicated the need. I have also increased the success of the technique by treating Contact Reflex Analysis points for the cervical lymph nodes, thymus, lungs, and adrenal glands in the same session holding the Potency Point throughout. Contact Reflex Analysis is part of the PRT course I teach.

FUTURE USE OF INTELLIGENCE POINT

If the original configuration of collagen fibers needs to be reconstructed at the site of a fracture or an acute concussion, use the Intelligence Point. Without years of clinical experience with this burgeoning method, I have nevertheless discovered with PRT the potential for the Intelligence Point to be beyond anything we have previously entertained. It could heal such things as scarring, arthritis, and even osteoporosis. The benefits of the Intelligence Point may not be so dramatic as the Potency Point with immediate relief of a sore throat in impending COVID. Use of the Intelligence Point could require a series of treatments with slow improvement over days, weeks or longer. The treatment may be repeated, its frequency and duration determined by querying the Tide. The potential for this point is immense, healing chronic disease in ways that we haven’t imagined.

PRT exceeds the capability of artificial intelligence, which compiles human knowledge that has a definite ceiling. PRT accesses universal intelligence, with no ceiling.
